Day 7 - The Reason for Everything

CELEBRATING OUR 1 WEEK MILESTONE!

Let's face it, this journey has been a hard one! It takes commitment to find time to read daily. It takes discipline to post a comment. It has taken much soul searching to re-think how we look at ourselves, life and God. But it's been worth it!

The comments on this blog is what will continue to make this a success. In addition to posting your comments, feel free to respond to someone else's thoughts. There have been many break-throughs and inspiring comments. Keep it going!

DAY 7

Point to Ponder: It's all for him.

Verse to Remember: "For everything comes from God alone. Everything lives by his power, and everything is for his glory." Romans 11:36 (LB)

Question to Consider: Where in my daily routine can I become more aware of God's glory?

  1. I just want to say that I really loved this chapter. I love Jesus and to read about him and be reminded even briefly of his sacrifice is always powerful for me. To be loved that much is just beyond my comprehension.

In my daily routine I can become more aware of God's glory everywhere. When I breathe. When I eat. When I wake up alive. When I look at my little children and their beautiful faces. When I look outside and the snow is pouring down. When I get emotional over a commercial or a movie. God is in everything around me.

  2. This chapter has really opened my eyes. There is so much running through my mind so I will try my best to consolidate it for this post.

The loaded question on pg. 57, "What Will You Live For?" This question is asking me, "Will you lay down your life for Me?" I truly believe Jesus died on the cross for me.

pg 58. "Believe God has chosen you to have a relationship with Jesus, who died on the cross for you. Believe that no matter what you've done, God wants to forgive you."

Jesus laid down his life for me- for me! So I can last forever and have a relationship with God. As I look at my life, even as a so called Christian- I am ashamed. I am ashamed of the past addictions. My checkered past. I am ashamed of how selfish I can live out my day(s) and not even give God a glance. But He patiently waits for me. He forgives me of all my mistakes if I am willing to receive it. He loves me despite of who I am. Because God loves me unconditionally! This is very sobering to me.

How to be more aware of God's glory? Stop everything I am doing, take moments throughout the day and thank Him for who He is and thank Him for creating me. Just like Donna, I want to make time to go into the woods and look at His creation. Realizing how beautiful, powerful, and awesome He truly is!

  3. What I do is thank God every morning when I wake up and when I'm going to the bathroom. I love to enjoy the sunrise in the morning as I drive to work, if it's not sunny then I take a few deep breaths when I open the door to let Fonzy out. I need to think of more times to become more aware of him and I guess that would be as simple as the fact that I can type because I have fingers!

  4. Purpose love other believers? I don't understand why we wouldn't love all.

  5. Colleen- I'm not sure of what question you were asking above but we are supposed to love everyone- even your "enemies" although that's tough. If you mean focusing on showing love to other believers I think that the book is basically covering the fact that Christians are a "family" of God- and they need to love one another in a special way because it says in the Bible that it is our responsibility to care for one another- encourage each other, hold each other accountable.... and offer up our lives for one another as Christ did for the church- as we are all part of one family. We are still to love everyone- even the unloveable- and care for them as well. The book is just referring to the way that followers of Christ should treat and love each other because unfortunately a lot of times they don't- everyone is human. But there are guidelines that Christians should hold each other to that sometimes you just can't hold someone else to that doesn't believe because they don't know God. But yes, we should love all, and do what we can for fellow man. The Bible says that we are to take care of everyone- it even mentions orphans and widows. I think maybe one of the reasons the book focuses on believers loving other believers is that you will find it hard to talk about some of your feelings and changes with other people who don't know God or aren't interested in him- they may make you feel bad or like a Bible thumper when you really just love God and are excited about it. If you get connected with a good group of christian friends and develop those relationships you wouldn't be judged and could grow and speak freely among a new "family". I enjoy reading your posts and I'm glad you were able to get back on.
