Day 9 - What Makes God Smile?

Point to Ponder: God smiles when I trust him.

Verse to Remember: "The Lord is pleased with those who worship him and trust his love" Psalm 147:11 (CEV)

Question to Consider: Since God knows what is best, in what areas of my life do I need to trust him most?

  1. I like that it is pointed out in this chapter that "anytime you reject any part of yourself, you are rejecting God's wisdom and sovereignty in creating you." There are many areas in my life that I need to trust God in more- the future, finances, etc.- but this is the one that I have the most difficulty with; trusting in God's wisdom of creating me. Actually, when Jer and I were reading this chapter, he had me read this one sentence over 5 times! I know in my heart that it is true, but accepting it in my mind and living in that truth is something that I have been struggling with for years. It is a daily battle of the mind, however, I know that God is in control and He is working on me, and I have full trust in that!! :)

  2. “When you are sleeping, God gazes at you with love, because you were His idea. He loves you as if you were the only person on earth.” (pg. 75)

I love reading the tender, intimate side of God.
Even though there are millions on this Earth He is capable of honing in on me. Delighting over me and caring for my needs. That is so cool!

I want to share one of my favorite verses: "The Lord your God is with you, He is mighty to save. He will take great delight in you, he will quiet you with his love, he will rejoice over you with singing." Zephaniah 3:17

This has been a good day. The bible says God delights in me- in ME! When I am hurting or complaining, like a parent, He quiets me with His love. He has great joy that He sings- He sings when He thinks about me... and you! God truly does smile at us when we are willing to live our lives for Him.

There are many areas of my life that I need to trust Him more. I have come to this conclusion:
I need to trust God completely and love God supremely.

  3. What a great chapter. I can relate to watching your children sleep. They look like little angels- so innocent, so beautiful. The day could have been horrible but I never fail to have a wonderful heartache when I check on my sleeping kids- I love it. How wonderful that God loves me like that. I have had struggles with the concept that God loves me so much with all of the billions of children he has created- but God is so powerful and divine and wonderful beyond my comprehension that I know it's true. I love my 3 kids so much- and they are all so different from each other- it's taken motherhood to finally give me the ability to grasp the idea that God can love all of his children equally.

I need to trust God in the areas of finances, family relations and health. These are all things I struggle to be in charge of and have made poor decisions with not having full reliance on God. Learning to put them in God's hands has been a tremendous leap of faith and has been a struggle for me. But what a sense of peace and thanksgiving I have when I hand them over and relinquish my desire to try and control my own life.
